The Hundred Year War was a war between England and France, which lasted from 1337 to 1453 to seize the territory and the French throne. The two main factions involved in the war were the Valois royal family (the French king) and the Plantagenet royal family (the British king). The Plantagenet royal family was king in England in the 12th century and originated in French regions such as Anjou and Normandy. War broke out about the Valois family claiming to be the king of France, while the Plantagenet claimed the throne of both France and England.
